Academic

St. John’s is an IB World School and offers the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme (Grades 6 to 10) and the Diploma Programme (Grades 11 & 12). We are currently in the process of applying for the Primary Years Programme (Grades K to 5).

The IB programmes offer a comprehensive 21st century education that is holistic and focuses on the whole person - academic, physical, social, and values. The student centered programmes offer a broad range of academic subjects with a particular and integrated emphasis on: communication, language acquisition and development, trans-disciplinary understanding, skills for learning, community service and critical thinking.
Teachers at St. John’s provide diverse learning experiences and flexibility in teaching methodologies. Students work both individually or collaboratively and are assessed using a variety of methods. This approach to holistic education fosters an inquiry approach and develops students' natural curiosity in order to foster a spirit of discovery and enjoyment of learning. Ultimately this leads to a culture of life-long learning for our graduates.

International Mindedness

An important part of the IB philosophy is “international-mindedness”. At St. John’s we believe that students should understand their own culture and identity as well as those of others with whom we share the world. The programmes St. John’s offers provide all students with the opportunity to learn a second language, develop an understanding of universal human values, and acquire the knowledge and skills that will allow them to prosper and thrive in a globalizing world.
The Learner Profile
The IB learner profile is the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21st century.

The learner profile provides a long-term vision of education. It articulates what we as a school believe to be important. It is a set of ideals that inspires, motivates and unites the community of St. John’s in a common purpose.
