The history of St. John’s School is one of growth and resolve. St. John’s was founded in 1986 as St. Andrew’s School Society with fewer than 100 students from Grades 3-10. In 1996, St. John’s School purchased the present school facility in Kitsilano and, as part of the school's growth and expansion, land adjacent to the original property has since been acquired.
St. John's now has over 430 students, a thriving academic and co-curricular programme and graduates who are studying around the world. As an IB World School, St. John's will be recognized in an international network and equip its students to lead as international citizens.
St. John’s has recently created the physical school that reflects its vibrant, thriving school community. The community celebrated the opening of the new Senior School facility in September 2011.
St. John's School is an extraordinarily supportive community. Since inception, St. John’s has emphasized a family-oriented environment and this is demonstrated clearly in school life. The parents contribute their time, expertise and financial support to further the mission of the school in many ways, including membership on the Board of Governors and the Parent Support Group, as well as through attending school events and student activities.
