Outdoor Education

The ocean, forests and mountains are all within reach in Vancouver and St. John’s takes full advantage of their accessibility. Every grade goes on a summer and winter trip. For example, Grade 6-7s camp at Strathcona Park Lodge, Grade 10s hike and fish at Stewardson Inlet and Grade 1-3s snowshoe at Cypress Mountain. Outdoor Education encourages curiosity, applies class lessons and fosters an appreciation for nature. Each year, two special excursions are planned to enable Senior School students to earn Duke of Edinburgh's Awards.
The Outdoor Club has started up once again for the 2011/2012 spring season, with students taking up frisbee golf at Queen Elizabeth Park, trail walking in the Vancouver Endowment Lands, and indoor rock climbing under the guidance of teacher, Ms. Catherine Holmen.
