As a not-for-profit society, St. John’s has a Board of Governors made up of business and community leaders who are current or past parents. The Board sets the strategic direction of the school and in partnership with our Head of School, ensures the school is successfully achieving our vision and has the resources to reach our goals.

  • Pamela Jefcoat, Chair

    Pamela (Pam) Jefcoat and her partner, Glenn Matthiesen, have two children at St. John's: Zoe in the MYP and Niklas in the PYP. Pam has a law degree and holds a Master in Public Administration from University of Victoria and has been practicing law for the past 16 years. Pam was previously a partner at the law firm of Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP and at another boutique municipal law firm in Vancouver. Pam is currently the managing partner of Civic Legal LLP. Prior to moving to Vancouver to practice law, Pam lived in Victoria where she interned at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and worked at the Ministry of Attorney General and Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. Pam also spent time overseas working at the law firm of Shook Lin & Bok in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

    Pam was elected as a Governor in 2015. She currently serves as Vice Chair and is Chair of the Risk Management Committee. She is a member of the Executive Committee and a member of the Committee on Governors.
  • Grant Christoff, Vice Chair

    Grant and his wife, Leah, have a son, Caleb, in the MYP. Grant is a graduate of the University of Victoria Law School and is now an adjunct professor at his alma mater. Since 2015, Grant has served as legal counsel with the First Nations Health Authority. Prior to this, Grant was the Director of the Aboriginal Law Section at the Department of Justice. Grant also serves on the Risk Management Committee.
  • Gloria Leong-Sit - Secretary

    Gloria Leong-Sit and her husband, Colin Edwards, are the parents of Jack in the MYP and Sloane in the PYP. Gloria has a Bachelor of Commerce and Asian Studies from the University of Alberta. She started her career in Sales and Marketing with Fairmont Hotels, working across Canada in Alberta and Ontario. She has also worked as a Client Development Manager for the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, and as a Director, Business Development, for the Mercer Creative Group in Vancouver.

    Gloria was elected as a Governor in 2016. She is a member of the Advancement Committee and is also serving in her fourth year as a Class Parent.
  • Bryan Yu - Treasurer

    Bryan and his wife, Ava, have two daughters at St. John’s: Jacqueline and Juliana, both in the PYP program. Bryan is the Chief Economist at Central 1 Credit Union where he provides organizational thought leadership related to economics, treasury and risk, and leads a team providing economic research services to credit unions in B.C. and Ontario. He is a frequent media commentator on current and emerging economic issues in outlets such as CBC, BNN and the Globe and Mail. Bryan also serves as a Director with the B.C. Paraplegic Foundation and is the Chair of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Government Budget and Policy Committee. Bryan currently serves on the Finance Committee.
  • Jeff Guise

    Jeffrey (Jeff) Guise and his wife, Kim, have two children at St. John’s: Riley in the DP and Georgia in the MYP. Jeff is the Managing Director of Connor Clark & Lunn Private Capital, part of Canada’s largest private-owned money management firm. Jeff has over 20 years of experience in the money management industry. He is involved in oversight of the firm’s investment functions, product development and large scale project management. Jeff has served on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver International Wine Festival and the Vancouver Playhouse. His family participates in the Kerrisdale Little League, Whistler Club programme and charity events such as the BC Children’s Hospital ChildRun and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Light the Night Walk.

    Jeff was elected as a Governor in 2015 and is Chair of the Advancement Committee and the Endowment Investment Committee.
  • Laura Jeffery

    Laura has two children, Amelia and Jack, both in the PYP at St. John’s. Laura is a Chartered Professional Account (CPA, CA) with over 15 years of experience providing tax advisory services to private and public companies across a wide range of industries. Laura obtained her CA designation working in KPMG’s Greater Vancouver practice and is currently the Vice President, Tax at MOSAIC Homes, a real estate development company located in Vancouver. Laura’s community focus has been on organizations that support the development of youth and she previously served as Treasurer of the Vancouver chapter of KidSport and currently serves on the Board of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland. Laura currently serves on the Advancement Committee and Endowment Fund Investment Committee.
  • Judith Mewhort

    Judith Mewhort is a past SJS parent and was elected to the Board in 2017. She is the managing partner of Montridge Advisory Group Ltd., a consulting firm, since 1997 and is responsible for the financial and strategic operations. Judith has the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations and has a background in taxation and risk management. Previous non-profit experience includes serving as the treasurer of Wesbrook Preschool from August 2005 to August 2007, and serving on the fundraising committee for the Vancouver FC and Fusion FC soccer club.

    Judith was elected as a Governor in 2017 and is a member of the Finance Committee.
  • Bobby Ning

    Bobby and his wife Susan Kim are the parents of Dylan and Ella who are both in the PYP. Bobby co-founded the Financial Literacy Counsel in 1999 which is a boutique financial literacy and consulting organization. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and speaker. He believes volunteering in anything you are a part of will enrich and enhance the lives of everyone around you. Bobby currently serves on the Finance Committee.
  • Natasha Prodan-Bhalla

    Natasha Prodan-Bhalla and her husband Sonny Bhalla are the parents of Maya in the DP and Leila in the MYP. Natasha is an active member of the school community, volunteering for numerous events over the last five years. Natasha is currently working as the Nurse Practitioner and Primary Health Care Lead in the Nursing Policy Secretariat in the Ministry of Health and as a Nurse Practitioner at BC Women's Hospital. She is the founding President of the BC Nurse Practitioner Association and was the lead for their work on primary care transformation in BC. She is also a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of Canada. She holds a Master of Nursing / Adult Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Toronto with a minor in the Ethnic and Pluralism Collaborative Program and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Western Ontario. Natasha recently completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Colorado focusing on influencing health care policy and health systems change. Her skills for the board include expertise in leadership, change management, policy development and project management.

    Natasha was elected as a Governor in 2017. She also served on the Committee on Governors.
  • Richard Pearce

    Richard Pearce and his wife, Tiffany Lee Pearce, have two children at St. John’s: Liam and Olivia who are both in the PYP. Richard has a law degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in History from the University of Western Ontario. Richard is a partner at the law firm Webster Hudson & Coombe LLP and has been practicing law for 20 years. Prior to being called the bar, Richard served as a law clerk with the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Richard is currently a board member of the Allard Law Alumni Association. Richard and his family participate in a number of community based activities such as Little Mountain Little League, Vancouver Athletic Football Club (Richard is a coach), and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Light the Night Walk. Richard is a member of the Committee of Governors.
  • Erika Reilly

    Erika Reilly has a daughter, Sophia, in the PYP. Erika has over 18 years of capital markets experience, having spent most of her career as an investment professional with Brookfield Asset Management, a leading global alternative asset manager. She has led growth and divestiture initiatives, public and private financings, and has played a key role in restructuring and managing timberland and infrastructure businesses. Concurrently, Ms. Reilly served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Acadian Timber (TSX:ADN) from September 2019 to July 2021 and served as its Chief Financial Officer from 2013 to 2016. Erika currently serves on the Endowment Fund Investment Committee.
  • Allan Russell

    Allan Russell and his wife Jennifer have two sons, Wesley in the MYP and Charlie in the PYP.

    Allan is a partner at EY, where he serves as Quality Enablement Leader for the Canadian firm’s Assurance practice. In this role, he is responsible for implementing quality initiatives and for identifying and responding to risks to audit quality. Allan has been with EY for nearly 25 years, and previously served as an audit partner for financial statement audits of publicly traded companies in the mining and industrial products sectors.
  • Linda Thyer

    Linda Thyer and her husband Pierre currently have one child at St John's, Maxime in the MYP. Their daughter Juliette graduated in 2021.  They have been part of the St. John's family since 2009.

    Linda grew up in rural BC near Nelson and completed her medical training in family medicine and sport medicine at McGill. She practiced for several years in Montreal and in Northern Quebec before moving to Vancouver nearly 20 years ago. Linda currently practices at SFU Health and Counselling Services where she serves the student population. She is passionate about having a healthy planet for future generations and is an active member of several community and health environmental organizations. When not working, Linda and her family enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

    Linda serves on the Strategic Plan Committee and was also a class parent for several years.
