Family Community Service

This year, Class Parents in Grades 3 and 6 organized service projects for our families to participate in together. The Grade 3 families crocheted hats for newborns at BC Children's Hospital and the Grade 6s created ornaments for the Ronald McDonald House.
This fall, Grade 3 parents got together to knit and crochet hats for newborns at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital. This was done to support their Period of Purple crying campaign. This campaign raises awareness about normal infant crying, how to cope with crying and the dangers of reacting to crying in frustration by shaking or harming an infant.
At least half the group had to learn how to crochet, but lovely newborn hats, in a variety of purple shades, were created and donated.

Grade 6s created ornaments for the Ronald McDonald House to decorate a tree for the Light the House campaign. They attended the Light the House Reception to join the RMH families as they officially lit all of the trees for the holiday season. It was a great opportunity for the kids to see how their small contribution brings some joy to families staying at Ronald McDonald House over the holiday season.
