Alumni Raise $5,000 at Charity Basketball Tournament

Michael Jakac-Sinclair '16 and Mahtab Gill '16, two SJS alumni, raised $5,000 to support young adults with learning disabilities at a basketball tournament in August.

Hosted at the Richmond Oval, the Hoop to Learn tournament was run by Michael and Mahtab’s Open Doors BC Educational Awareness Society. The society aims to  support high school students with learning challenges as they transition to post-secondary institutions in the Lower Mainland. In December of last year, Michael and Mahtab told us about the inspiration behind their initiative

We are thrilled and proud to see two of our alumni continuing to live the SJS value of service in their lives after St. John’s, and with such success. We hope our students will be inspired by this as they think about the many opportunities they have to demonstrate character, service and leadership every day, both inside and outside of school.
Michael and Mahtab’s story was featured in the Richmond News. Read the article here.
