Baking for Buster is a new Grade 5 co-curricular activity that gives students the opportunity to learn baking skills to ultimately bake cookies that will be donated to the Vancouver SPCA and their branch operation Charlie’s Pet Bank.
Each week, while working in small groups, they measure, mix and prepare the cookies for baking.
Just before Christmas, we dropped off three bags of cookies to the SPCA. After receiving their first batch of cookies, the liaison to the SPCA wrote to ask me if the cookies were really for the dogs. They thought they looked good enough for people to eat.
Of course, we needed to make sure the cookies were going to be a hit with the dogs, so we tested them out on some of our furry SJS friends.
