The success of our Imagine. Inspire. Create. Capital Campaign continues with the renovation of our PYP facilities, which began in Summer 2018 and will continue over Summer 2019.
Summer 2018 focused on updates to the second and third floors of the Junior School. We changed the HVAC unit to improve air quality, lower energy costs and reduce noise. We also replaced the current windows with those that open and are energy efficient. The lockers were relocated along the perimeter in front of the classrooms and we created an open, collaborative common area in the centre of each floor.
In Summer 2019, we will enter the classrooms to update the floors and change the lighting to be energy efficient and easier on our learners’ eyes. We will also begin improvements to the main floor, relocating the Junior Kindergarten room beside the courtyard and creating a Junior School library and Special Educational Needs Centre.
As our Grade 6 and 7 classes will be moving to the Arts and Science Centre in the Fall, we will have more space in the Junior School for experiential learning, language acquisition, collaboration and teacher preparation.
The cost to raise our Junior School facility to the level of our Senior School and Arts and Science Centre is approximately $5 million. Strong financial support from our school community will ensure that we can create a space that will enhance the experience of our current and future PYP students.
