From their earliest years at St. John’s, students are encouraged to take part in co-curricular clubs and teams that support their growth and enable them to become well-rounded, balanced, global thinkers.
This year, there were over 70 co-curricular clubs available across Junior School and Senior School. 97% of Senior School students and 100% of Junior School students took part in co-curriculars.
A few of this year’s highlights include:
Business Club students earned three first-place wins and two second-place rankings in BC at the DECA Virtual Business Challenge.
Business Club won first and third place at the National High School Business Conference and Competition at UBC.
SJS Chess Club took the Top School team prize in both the Kindergarten – Grade 3 and Grade 4 –12 categories at the BC Chess Challenge Regional Qualifier Round 3 in 2019.
Debate Team students placed third in the 2018 International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition (IISPSC).
Derek L., Grade 10 and Chris L., Grade 6 placed first at the 2019 Skills Canada Provincial Robotics Competition in Abbotsford.
Debate Team placed top ten in the province in three categories in the Public Speaking Provincial Championships.
Senior Golf Team won the Lower Mainland Zone Championships and finished third at provincials.
Senior Badminton Team won the GVISAA Senior Badminton Championships.
Junior Girls Volleyball team placed second at the ISA Championships.
Chess participation thrived, with over 50 students participating in the Junior School and Senior School Chess Clubs.
19 students participated in the Vancouver Model United Nations Conference.
